Ride it if You Like to Astronomy Domine
by Syd Barrett on May.06, 2009, under Syd Barrett
At Syd Barrett, we’re committed fans with real opinions and insights into the world of Syd. Once an icon, Syd Barrett has faded to memory for most as a mere madman who launched Pink Floyd through two albums, his own solo, and then vanished. But his story, and music, are much more than that.
Syd has perpetrated every medium we see and here, much like Pink Floyd themselves did after his departure. Syd’s world leaves nothing vacant or unanswered, no angst or distress remains, and despite perhaps being the king of psychedelia, his phrases and tunes are incredibly simple, joyful and direct.
We hope that our love for Syd will bring you joy as you adventure through to listen, see and beyond.
Shine on Syd, you crazy diamond…
by Syd Barrett on Aug.18, 2009, under Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett
Pink Floyd’s tribute to Syd. Perhaps not the best performance or video, but here it is.
This was requested by a few fans who enjoy some occasional newer Floyd mixed in. I am okay with this as long as it is somehow centered around Syd, which is what this site is about. Waters, Gilmore, etc., without Syd are a different creation, but admirable in their own right.
